The Packer Avenue Marine Terminal is operated by Greenwich Terminals LLC and is one of the most productive terminals in the United States.
The facility employs 12 highly productive and safe in-house labor crews and offers 19 start times which creates greater flexibility for vessel departure and arrival times. This adds up to cargo being moved faster, discharged faster, and saves distributors time and money.
Electro-Mechanical Technician - Crane Dept.
IAM Union Position
$32.95 - 38.15/hr
Applicants must have the following skills, knowledge, and experience:
Significant experience with electrical control circuits for three and single phase power. A strong working knowledge of electrical troubleshooting techniques, strong computer & network skills, use of electrical test equipment, electrical components, basic electronics, the analysis of circuit schematics, and machine control concepts.
Ability to troubleshoot defects and malfunctions to electrical and mechanical systems to determine the type or extent of repair. Analyze and troubleshoot relay logic, PLCs, electrical controls, networks, fiber optics, medium and low-voltage power systems, hydraulics systems, and crane motor drives.
Ability to repair crane hardware including brake assemblies, integrated control modules, relay control circuits, generator controls, operator chairs, and container spreader bars. Perform equipment modifications including DC drives, variable frequency drives (VFD), motor and gear replacements, and festoon replacements.
Ability to read electrical schematics and to troubleshoot electrical equipment.
Ability to read hydraulic schematics and to troubleshoot hydraulic equipment.
Assist in the replacement of wire ropes, sheaves, crane wheels, and bearings.
Perform & follow PM and lubrication schedules.
Perform daily and monthly crane inspections.
Other mechanical duties as assigned.
Operate cranes for testing and inspecting. Use crane diagnostic software to perform job functions.
Communicate between operations, maintenance management, and other technicians related to schedules, evaluations, and repairs.
Ensure shop has inventory necessary to perform repairs and maintenance on all equipment and ensure inventory is done and kept correctly.
Perform work in all types of weather, at extreme heights, in cramped spaces, on container cranes which are continually exposed to high noise levels from cranes, ships, and truck engines. The work requires strenuous physical activity such as climbing, bending, and lifting tools and equipment weighing over 50 pounds.
Follow safety rules and practices to ensure performance of duties in a consistently safe manner.
Be responsible for accuracy and completeness of repairs and housekeeping.
