Job Requirements / Description
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN)
**Job Specialty:** Labor & Delivery (L&D)
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
**Guaranteed Hours:** N/A
**Experience:** Minimum 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred
**License:** RN License in state of employment or compact
**Certifications:**
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) certification or completion of an AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring course within 30 days of hire for experienced nurses, or within 4 months for new graduates and experienced nurses new to the specialty
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days of hire for experienced nurses, and within 90 days for new graduates then maintained thereafter
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification at time of hire for experienced nurses; within 60 days for new graduates and experienced nurses new to the specialty then maintained thereafter
**Must-Have:** Completion of annual competency verification requirements
**Job Description:**
- Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
- Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families according to level of practice.
- Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols, monitoring side effects and effectiveness.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and resources.
- Use critical thinking skills to assess the basic physical, psychosocial, social, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of patients and families.
- Communicate findings to appropriate healthcare team members and develop plans of care.
- Implement patient care and therapeutic procedures; monitor and document progression of treatment and teaching goals.
- Evaluate the care and treatment(s) provided to patients and their response.
- Anticipate and plan for admission, discharge, and transfer needs to facilitate patient flow.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies, actively participate in resourcing efforts, and educate and train others on operations, ethics, and regulations within the industry.
- Incorporate patient safety practices/guidelines to promote a safe environment, demonstrating accountability for nursing research and quality improvement activities.
- Provide evidence-based nursing care and communicate patient information effectively across the continuum of care.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local healthcare-related laws and regulations.
