Civil and Marine Construction Excavator Operator
UMX is looking to hire a Civil and Marine Construction Excavator Operator.
Multiple job site locations in the Northeast Florida region.
Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Ability to get on and off floating barges and platforms.
• Safe operation of excavator/backhoe.
• I am handling and moving material.
• Knowledge of the excavator/backhoe loading requirements; load charts; critical picks.
• Excavate ponds, ditches, and trenches.
• Load trucks with fill dirt.
• Backfill.
• Rig, lift, swing, and set precast structures and pipe materials.
• Safely and efficiently move the excavator around the job site.
• Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc.
• Daily maintenance of equipment.
• Willing to travel to the job site.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to Perform Essential Functions
Technical Knowledge:

• Effective communication skills.
• Identify, report, and correct hazards.
• Ability to use the controls to operate the excavator/backhoe effectively.
• Understands and watches machine control, gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure the machine works properly.
• Rigging and hoisting.
• Safe trenching.

Training and Experience:

• Three years of heavy civil construction equipment operation experience.
• Competent Person.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for long periods; handle and manipulate objects repetitively. Ability to see well and distinguish between backup alarms, voices, and other normal sounds consistent with construction job sites.
Environmental Adaptability:
Work inside and outside in all weather conditions and various locations and times of the day. Hard hats, hearing and eye protection, and Hi-visibility clothing are required.
