Oracle Senior Director Colocation Infrastructure Construction Delivery

The Data Center Infrastructure Construction team at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is a dynamic group of professionals dedicated to delivering state-of-the-art data center facilities at scale and at pace. This team comprises experienced project managers, commissioning experts, and construction specialists who work collaboratively to ensure the successful execution of complex data center construction projects. They bring a wealth of expertise in project management, technical design, and on-site construction, ensuring that our data centers meet the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and sustainability.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Director Colocation Infrastructure Construction Delivery to lead a team overseeing the construction of data centers performed by colocation providers. This role is critical in ensuring that projects are managed effectively to meet schedule, quality, and design requirements.

As the Senior Director of Colocation Infrastructure Construction Delivery, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of our data infrastructure. Your leadership will be pivotal in driving the strategic vision for our data center projects, ensuring they align with our long-term organizational goals. You will lead a dynamic team of professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.

Responsibilities

  1. Review and understand complex data center construction projects that are being constructed by colocation lease providers and analyze the projects for risk profiles.
  2. Develop and implement long-term standards and strategies for data center colocation construction projects delivery certainty to align with organizational goals.
  3. Lead and mentor a team of project managers, engineers, and construction professionals.
  4. Lead and manage the construction oversight efforts of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  5. Develop and maintain detailed project schedules.
  6. Analyze projects to evaluate risk profiles and inform the business of potential impacts.
  7. Work closely throughout design, construction, and commissioning to integrate tenant fit out projects.
  8. Implement and oversee quality control processes.
  9. Collaborate with design teams to ensure construction activities align with approved designs.
  10. Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and colocation providers.
  11. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  12. Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
  13. Provide ongoing colocation provider evaluation input for continuous improvement.
  14. Conduct regular project visits to ensure schedule, coordination, and quality.
  15. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
  16. Attend meetings held in various time zones to support international projects.

Required Skills Include:

  1. Heavy knowledge of base building data center construction.
  2. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  3. Strong skills in developing and implementing long-term strategies.
  4. Deep understanding of data center design, construction, and operational requirements.
  5. Expertise in managing large-scale data center construction projects.
  6. Proven ability to lead and inspire a diverse team of professionals.
  7. Proficiency in creating and managing project budgets.
  8. Ability to identify potential risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  9. Experience in vendor management.
  10. Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards.
  11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. Minimum of 12 years of experience in construction project management, with a focus on data center or colocation infrastructure.
  3. Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects.
  4. Strong understanding of construction processes, quality control, and design coordination.
  5. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
