THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will be tasked with performing standardized On Road examinations to assess the skills and competencies of Non-Commercial Driver License candidates in a safe and courteous manner. Your responsibilities will include evaluating the physical condition and driving qualifications of applicants, as well as inspecting the mechanical state of vehicles in accordance with established guidelines. You will conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections prior to administering driving tests and verify motor vehicles for inspection stickers, lights, windshield wipers, and other mechanical components to ensure safety and assess the applicant's familiarity with vehicle controls. Furthermore, you will review applications, registrations, and permits for any signs of irregularities or fraud. You will also administer the CDL and Non-CDL knowledge examinations to evaluate applicants' understanding of the motor vehicle code and traffic signs, while assessing their practical driving skills and adherence to road rules. Additionally, you will conduct vision tests, including telebinocular and color perception assessments.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Overtime and travel as required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (commonwealth title); or
Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.

Special Requirements:

This position requires an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
This position requires no suspensions or revocations of a driver's license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver's license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
