About the Company - Our client, a manufacturer in Torrance, is seeking a Warehouse Worker (sit down forklift operator) to join its team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in shipping/receiving, labeling, forklift operation, inventory, and picking/packing which will align successfully in the organization.
About the Role - The Warehouse Associate position receives and dispatches merchandise to and from its warehouse, which includes:
- Loading/unloading outgoing and incoming delivery vehicles.
- Selecting products from the warehouse, loading/securing goods to pallets, moving inventory to designated areas.
- Labeling inventory items and boxes.
- Assisting Machine Operators with boxing and palletizing of paint sticks.
- Assisting Production Department with staging pallets.
- Complying with all relevant safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities - Shipping/Receiving (65%):
- Receive and track shipments.
- Unload delivery vehicles using forklift and other appropriate tools.
- Prepare, process and load orders for shipment in accordance with relevant procedures and standards (e.g., pull materials, pack boxes, build/load/wrap orders on pallets using pallet jacks and use forklift as needed to place orders in designated areas).
- Accommodate and carefully handle fragile merchandise.
- Inspect inventory for damage and faults.
- Count and confirm inventory.
- Store inventory in an accessible manner.
- Follow procedures and company policies, maintains a safe, clean and organized work environment.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
Responsibilities - Warehouse Administration & Safety:
- Maintain warehouse records by accurately entering required information (e.g., tag and label inventory, track and document exact shipment arrival and departure times, recording impaired or damaged items.
- Mark and label stock; includes labeling according to such factors as quantity and type.
- Enforce inventory controls by collecting stock orders and printing requests.
- Enter data in inventory in applicable company records.
- Communicate errors to relevant parties.
- Ensure cleanliness, tidiness, and safety of work environment (e.g., keep shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat).
- Comply with all company safety procedures, rules, and regulations.
Responsibilities - Labeling (30%):
- Manually feed product packets into the label machine for labeling.
- Collect and package labeled packets into product box.
- Manually label outside of product box.
- Securely tape completed product boxes.
- Stack and build pallets with completed product boxes.
- Wrap pallets with shrink wrap.
- Use manual pallet jack/forklift to move pallets to appropriate locations.
- Keep machines and surrounding work area clean.
Responsibilities - Boxing (5%):
- Manually place printed paint sticks into box.
- Prepare cardboard boxes for packaging (i.e., opening, bending, taping, etc.).
- Stack and build pallets with completed boxes.
Qualifications - Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred
- Basic Shipping Knowledge (experience with UPS, FedEx, Freight, LTL, TL, shipping documents).
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable motor vehicle record.
Pay range and compensation package - Pay Rate Range: $18/hr. - $19/hr. based on experience
