Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Business Project Manager with strong Process Improvement expertise to lead strategic business initiatives across various functions in our organization. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving complex business projects and process improvements, preferably within a mortgage or financial services environment. Experience with a top consulting firm and/or relevant project management & process improvement certifications are highly desirable, as this role requires a sophisticated approach to managing cross-functional business initiatives.

Although having a Scrum Master certification is nice to have for this position, this is NOT an IT project manager position. Experience with executing non-IT projects across multiple lines of business (Ops, HR, Finance, etc) is required.

The successful candidate will bring both project management expertise and a strong process improvement mindset, ensuring that business objectives are met efficiently and effectively.

This position must be a self-starter, not afraid to ruffle feathers, step on toes, or challenge the status quo. Decisive action and self-confidence are keys to project success. Doing is valued over talking, and a strategic mindset, strong leadership skills, and the ability to translate insights into actionable plans for sustainable growth are vital.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end project lifecycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Execute project management and/or continuous improvement projects by applying PM and LSS tools such as PMBOK, Agile, Scrum, DMAIC, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, Error Proofing, Visual Management, Poke-Yoke, and others.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies, and proactively implement solutions to address challenges.
  • Communicate project status, progress, and updates to stakeholders, including senior management, team members, and external partners.
  • Manage project resources, including personnel, and external vendors, to optimize efficiency and productivity.
  • Conduct regular project meetings, facilitate discussions, and drive decision-making to keep projects on track.
  • Ensure compliance with project management and continuous improvement best practices, methodologies, and standards.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, promoting teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience managing complex business projects and/or executing continuous improvement project, ideally within a mortgage, financial services, or real estate environment.
  • Experience working at a large consulting firm preferred, with an understanding of large-scale project management methodologies and corporate process improvement frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, or Root Cause Analysis.
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), Scrum Master, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, or certifications from large consulting firms highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Business or related field required. MBA preferred.
  • Independent worker who also works well in a team and is a driver for organizational change.
  • Ability to corral busy team members and take initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in translating data into actionable insights.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
  • High adaptability and resilience in fast-paced and evolving business settings.

Preferred, but not required

  • MBA preferred.
  • Project management certification (PMP, etc.) highly preferred.
  • LSS Green or Black Belt certification highly preferred.
  • Scrum/Agile certification highly preferred.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid position which requires in office reporting to Anchor’s Thousand Oaks or Newport Beach office on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Remote work is optional Monday and Friday.

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is $120,000 - $135,000/year, plus annual discretionary bonus based on performance of the individual and company.
