Job Description
Viejas Casino and Resort hosts southern California's largest outdoor ice skating rink and you could become part of our team. We are looking for positive and energetic people to join our team for the holiday season. Come Share Our PRIDE and help us deliver ice skating fun and world class guest service! Candidates must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays. To be considered for the position you must be 18 years or older, have a valid CA driver license, and be able to ice skate, ice skating skill is preferred. You must have previous cash handling experience along with good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with children. Zamboni certification is a plus!

• Zamboni Maintenance
  • Performs routine machine maintenance, not limited to making sure water tanks are full, checking fluids in the motor, and checking propane level.
  • Ensures water tank is drained and refilled for next ice resurfacing.
  • Rinse, dumps, and washes all ice off the dump trunk and augers after using the Zamboni machine.

• Maintains Ice Rink
  • Monitors ice conditions.
  • Resurfaces ice rink by running the Zamboni machine for 10 to 15 minutes before the ice rink opens and every two hours after until closing.
  • Ensures all skaters are off the ice rink before running the Zamboni machine.
  • Ensures grates are removed above the pit before running the Zamboni machine.

• General Support and Special Projects
  • Monitors ice skating sessions and ensures the safety of guests using ice skating rink.
  • Ensures adherence to ice skating rules and regulations by issuing warning or asking skaters to leave the ice.
  • Prepares to regularly work outdoors in inclement weather, including but not limited to rain, hail, snow, wind, and extremely cold weather.
  • Follows company and departmental policies and standard operating procedures, applicable governmental laws and regulations.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Required Skills

• Must be 18 years old.
• Valid driver's license.
• Zamboni certification is a plus but not required.
• Must obtain a Zamboni certification after 100 hours training by Viejas Zamboni training staff.
• 1 to 3 years of related experience and/or training.

• Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with children.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
• Demonstrated high degree of good judgment.
• Good skating skill preferred.
• Knowledge of proper cash handling procedures.
• Knowledge of opening and closing procedures.
• Must be able to take initiative and demonstrate accountability and reliability.
• Responsible, dependable, work well with others and enthusiastic.
• Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
