Pay Rate: $85,000
Requirements:
- 2 years Over the Road driving with Class A CDL license
- Clean MVR
- DOT Certificate (physical & background check & drug test)
- H.S. Grad or equivalent
Shift: Set schedule with some flexibility (holidays, overnights, etc.)
One or two weekend days are required.
Job Summary
Our client is seeking dedicated and experienced National Linehaul Team CDL Truck Drivers to join their transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for the timely and safe delivery of goods between terminals and customer locations within the designated region.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a 53 foot refrigerated tractor trailer (with an automatic transmission) to transport freight between Des Plaines and the East Coast.
- Work in a team driving setup, alternating shifts to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations, including those set by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
- Assist with the loading and unloading of freight as needed, ensuring cargo is secure and properly documented.
- Follow designated routes, adjusting as needed for traffic, weather, or other road conditions, while maintaining on-time delivery schedules.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring that all safety and maintenance checks are completed. Report any vehicle defects or issues to the maintenance team.
- Interact professionally with customers and terminal staff, providing excellent customer service and communication.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and other required documentation, complying with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations.
- Address any issues or challenges that arise during transit, communicating effectively with dispatch and the logistics team.
Qualifications
- CDL License: Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of CDL driving experience in commercial driving, preferably in a line haul or similar role.
- Experience and/or willingness to work in a team driving environment.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to handle physical demands, including loading/unloading freight and performing vehicle inspections.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations, HOS, and electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
