Registered Nurse- Labor and Delivery

Job Description

We have a current opportunity for a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse on a contract basis at a well-known hospital. The position will be based in Bronx. For further information about this position please apply.

Location: Bronx, NY

Hours : 7:00PM-7:30AM

Schedule : 3 shifts a week/ including rotating weekends and holidays

Responsibilities included but not limited to are:

• Assists the physician or midwife with all aspects of pregnancy and birth, assists surgeons during cesarean sections, and cares for women who experience complications with their pregnancies or birthing processes.
• Monitoring fetal heartbeat and length and strength of contractions during labor.
• Coaching women, assisting with any complications and administering medications during birth.
• Using equipment and administering medications related to labor, delivery, and the care of newborns.
• Administering IVs and medications
• Providing guidance to new mothers on all aspects of recovery and infant care.
• Develops, implements and continuously evaluates the nursing regimen for assigned patients/clients.
• Records and maintains nursing care plans and progress notes on patients/clients to ensure continuity of care.
• Interprets and reports responses of patients/clients to appropriate members of the health team.
• Participates with interdisciplinary health team members to plan a comprehensive patient care program.
• Participates in determining conditions, resources and policies essential to the delivery of nursing care services.

Qualifications & Experience

• Active New York State Registered Nurse License
• 2 years of labor and delivery experience
• IV Insertion, phlebotomy and conscious sedation skills
• American Heart Association (AHA) BLS and ACLS certification
• NRP Certification
