Circle of Life is looking for a compassionate and empathetic Durable Medical Equipment Driver to deliver and service medical equipment in our patients homes. This position works 10 hour shifts on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday from 8a-6p.

Requirements: 3-5 years prior experience driving trucks is preferred. Good hearing, vision and ability to distinguish between colors. Ability to read and speak English well enough to read road signs, prepare reports, and communicate with the public. Knowledge of patient care equipment functions including routine maintenance. Technical and mechanical aptitude, the ability to use shop mathematics, and manual dexterity. Must get along well with people, speak well and have self-confidence, initiative, tact, and a neat appearance. A responsible, self-motivated individual able to work well with little or no direct supervision. Experience in a healthcare environment preferred. Ability to cope with human suffering, emergencies and other stresses.

  1. Provides support to the Maintenance Department with a variety of tasks to support the ongoing maintenance of Circle of Life buildings. This will include skilled and unskilled tasks.
  2. Prepares the DME truck daily for delivery by pulling stock (e.g., wheelchairs, hospital beds, bathroom aids, medical supplies, etc.) from warehouse inventory and loading equipment in the designated compartments of the van and cargo trailer.
  3. Participates with supervisor/manager to conduct a daily assessment and verification (Pre-Trip Inspection) of the DME truck, equipment and supplies, and confirm basic safety operations (e.g., lights, brakes, mileage, vehicle appearance, etc.).
  4. Reviews basic equipment operation and instructs patients and/or caregivers on the proper use and care.
  5. Maintains continuous communication with the scheduling team to relay a change in an order or issues with prescribed orders, position in routes, stock availability and to confirm delivery and pick up of equipment.
  6. Responds to emergency calls and new patient orders during regular business hours and on-call rotation hours.
  7. Upon completion of routes, unloads and checks-in returned equipment with the warehouse, placing dirty equipment in the designated area for cleaning.
  8. Maintain current patient equipment logs.
  9. Cleans, disinfects, inspects, tests, and repairs medical equipment.
  10. Stocks delivery trucks with rolling stock to ensure "ready" condition for the next delivery.
  11. On occasion, assists the warehouse by receiving and confirming new equipment, which includes barcoding and scanning equipment following standard operating procedures.
  12. Participates in on-going staff meetings, training activities and continuing education to maintain relevant understanding and knowledge of equipment, new procedures and processes
  13. Demonstrates compassion, empathy, and patience when interacting with patients, families, co-workers, and members of the public.
  14. Represents Circle of Life to the community in a positive manner.
  15. Demonstrates flexibility, versatility and a positive attitude in integrating additional duties.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.
