**Job Description:**
- Must be experienced in Labor and Delivery, capable of working in postpartum and nursery settings.
- Work in a small unit with approximately 350 deliveries a year.
- All nurses in the unit are cross-trained in various areas of OB.
- Float required based on facility needs.
- Work every other weekend.
- Daytime nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3, nighttime is 1:2, and weekends are 1:6.
- Previous charge experience preferred.
- Work settings include Antepartum, Labor and Delivery, High Risk Antepartum, Level I Nursery, LDRP, and Mother/Baby.
- Assist with antepartum care and procedures, including sterile speculum exams, NST, reflex checks, sterile vaginal exams, triage of obstetrical patients, and use of EFM.
- Proficient in fetal monitoring, including external and internal approaches, and recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
- Administer medications such as anticoagulants, anticonvulsants, antihypertensives, magnesium sulfate, oxytocin, prostaglandins, and terbutaline.
- Assist with labor and delivery management, including amnioinfusion, high-risk delivery, vaginal delivery, forceps/vacuum extraction, and managing hemorrhage/shock.
- Provide newborn care such as assistance with circumcision, car seat education, cord care, discharge teaching, infant identification, metabolic screening, and management of neonatal abstinence syndrome and hypoglycemia.
