About the role
Viterra is seeking a transport manager to join our logistics team in a key supply chain management role. This role will work with the wider logistics team to manage the road and rail logistics side of our storage and handling business. With a focus on maximising freight efficiency, you will maintain and foster relationships with freight providers, participate in improvement projects and pricing and planning for future freight requirements.
Duties
- Oversee the movement of freight (road and rail) within the Viterra storage and handling network
- Manage freight pricing
- Ensure all compliance requirements are met
- Undertake supply and demand analysis and forward planning of freight needs
- Manage freight provider relationships; monitor and manage performance against KPIs.
- Lead negotiations and tender processes with new providers to provide strategic value to the business.
- Continually review and improve road and rail arrangements within Viterra in order to identify improvement opportunities.
- Undertake strategic projects
- Assist sites with freight efficiency improvements
About you
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar position
- Business management or qualification in supply chain management desirable
- High level knowledge of the transport industry required
- Sound knowledge of technology to support business and delivery of role
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and proactive
- Take responsibility for achieving challenging personal professional goals
- Strive for excellence through the use of reflective practices
