Position Summary
The Material Expeditor Driver is responsible to coordinate and expedite the flow of Contractor-owned Hazardous Material (HM) from the Central Receiving Warehouse and/or Storage Shed(s) to the Hazardous Distribution Support Center(s) (HDSC). ME tasks include monitoring and replenishing HDSC orders, delivery of HM to HDSCs, customers, and sheds as applicable, executing Point of Sale (POS) transactions, and facilitating HM Demand Forecasting and Planning, HM Procurement, and Warehouse Operations as needed. Proper Coordination between the ME and Material Coordinators, Stock Clerk Lead, and HDSC Stock Clerks is essential to ensure complete material support, seamless transition between shifts, and requisite customer service requirements are met. The ME is the "go to" person for HM support to CCAD production contract employees and Artisans working during their shift.
Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and protocols including use of PPE, buddy care, etc.
  • Retain expertise of, and demand compliance with contract Standard Operating Procedures, Process Instructions, and CCAD-R 200-16.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of the contract PWS requirements as they apply to Contractor-owned HM management, inventory, delivery, and POS transactions.
  • Expedite the flow of all Hazardous Materials to storage sheds and HDSCs and assist with flow of consumables to HDSCs in accordance with customer priorities and required delivery dates.
  • Ensure that the HM is the type needed before it is issued or delivered.
  • Lead inventory team in performing inventory of contractor-owned HM.
  • Transport HM between Centralized Warehouse, Storage Sheds, HDSCs, and customers for Direct Turnover (DTO) as applicable.
  • Inspect, print, and apply HMIDS-generated labels for each item of HM as needed.
  • Palletize and/or stage HM for transport to the assigned storage/HDSC as directed ensuring material is properly loaded and secured on MHE.
  • Maintain proper HM segregation based on Hazard Compatibility Code (HCC).
  • Always ensure compliance with all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain exceptional working knowledge of HMIDS and CMIS including but not limited to computer navigation and applicable work-related applications, report generation e.g. inventory management, status of orders, materials in storage, HR timekeeping.
  • Develop and produce required reports.
  • Operate and maintain Material Handling Equipment including motor vehicles, motorized scooters, golf-carts, forklifts, electric and manual pallet jacks, shrink wrap machine, and/or burden carriers as assigned.

  • Verify placards are correct for delivery
  • Daily truck pre-delivery inspection sheet
  • Verify proper shipping documentation prior to departure
  • Deliver products to base
  • Obtain signatures on BOL and consolidated pick tickets
  • Traffic laws/ DOT regulations/ driving knowledge
  • Pallet jack experience required; forklift experience preferred
  • Ability to lift 80 pounds repeatedly throughout day
  • Able to pass random drug tests
  • Clean driving record
  • No DUI/DWI convictions in the past seven years
  • Listening and verbal communication skills
  • Dependability
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Must be a Citizen of the United States.
  • Must always maintain a valid state driver's license and clean driving record .
  • Must pass criminal and financial background check and drug screening prior to hire and must be able to pass and sustain the DLA PSI background check criteria during the entire duration of their employment.
  • High School Diploma or an equivalent and a minimum of 1 year experience in controlling and managing, distributing and storing hazardous materials.
  • Must maintain excellent physical condition and be able to lift a minimum of 60lbs unassisted.
  • Always required to provide and wear OSHA-compliant and serviceable protective footwear.
  • Must possess acceptable computer operations and database entry skills.
  • Must possess acceptable interpersonal, organization, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Must present a neat and professional appearance IAW ATS policy and consistent with the workplace environment.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain CDL with hazmat and tanker endorsements

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and/or Chemistry/Biology/Biochemistry and/or preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of previous experience in chemical management.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in contract construction, negotiation, and application.
Work Environment:
Ability to handle multiple priorities and demands in a fast-paced environment. This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role requires presence on the manufacturing floor and a significant amount of walking on concrete surfaces. This role also routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. Ability to work in a team fostered environment. Ability to work in a multi-tasked environment. Strong personality and focus in fast-paced and demanding environments. Ability to adapt to change quickly and multi-task.
