Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St Louis invites applications for the position of School Bus Driver. The Driver transports children and staff to schools, homes, field trips, and other locations as approved by management while providing supervision and direction to children. This is a year round position with some Saturdays, as well as day and overnight trips available throughout the year.
Qualifications:

  • Current driver's license with no more than 3 moving violations in past three years (no alcohol or drug related convictions).
  • Must pass DOT Physical
  • Has a currently valid commercial motor vehicle operator's license (CDL) with passenger and school bus endorsement.
  • Ability to drive organization vehicles and Motor Vehicle Record must meet insurability guidelines.
  • Must have five years experience driving a shuttle van or bus.
  • Can read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.
  • Enthusiasm and patience for working with youth and their families.
  • Ability to repeatedly bend, stoop, reach, climb stairs, push and pull.
  • Ability to work in changing climates and work outdoors for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations.
  • The candidate must be friendly, self-motivated, efficient, and professional.
  • A high degree of independence, flexibility, self-motivation, and creativity.
  • Great attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of the Hazelwood area and St. Louis metropolitan area.
  • Ability to pass criminal background check.
Responsibilities
  • Have the agility to move from a seated position to a standing position promptly to respond to emergency situations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on the vehicles such as checking oil and general cleaning; maintain and update gasoline logs and vehicle checklists.
  • Maintain vehicles as required by the Missouri Department of Transportation and other governmental agencies to include pre-trip maintenance checks, regular scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and cleaning.
  • Ensure vehicles are secured at the transportation lot at the end of the day.
  • Maintain supplies required to keep the vehicle operating properly.
  • Obtain certification in CPR, First Aid, and Bus Driver Training.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Complete all required paperwork.
