Job Summary:

Unit Managers who are responsible for managing Assistant Unit Managers, Registered Nurses and related support staff assigned to a specialty critical care, specialty care or non-specialty patient care units. This position oversees the day-to-day unit operations and assumes 24-hour responsibility. Unit Managers will supervise and direct the work of others; assign, review, and evaluate, work of assigned nursing and support staff; prepare and/or sign work performance evaluations; handles disciplinary and hiring and firing actions; prepare schedules and approve time off.


POSITION SUMMARY:

Under direction, supervises a patient care unit at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and all staff assigned to a single patient care unit within a service line; performs related duties as required.


This position is responsible for managing and supervising a large staff of Assistant Unit Managers, and Registered Nurses and related support staff assigned to a specialty critical care, specialty care or non-specialty patient care units including the day-to-day operations and assumes 24 hour responsibility. Unit Manager is distinguished from Nurse Supervisor in that the latter is responsible for a small nursing program, department or service and staff. Further distinguished from the Assistant Unit Manager series as this classification has full responsibility for the management and budgetary responsibility for the day-to-day operations of a unit. Positions report to a Clinical Director II and the Associate Chief Nursing Officer.


  • Required experience:
  • 3+ years of nursing experience - required
  • ALL certs & Licenses active
  • NICU experience a PLUS
  • At least 1+ year of recent/current Supervisor/Interim experience - required
  • MSN or BSN + MA in Healthcare Administration - required
  • IDEAL candidate will have at least '5' years of nursing experience with '2' or more years of supervisory experience in acute care facility

  • Work History going back at least 3 years, if applicable to Assignment
