About the Position: This position is located with U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center at Fort Cavazos, TX. Responsibilities Receive, examine and determine the condition and disposition of a wide variety of materials. Interpret procedures, technical manuals, and equipment drawings to verify equipment classification. Interpret general warehousing plans for stock in storage areas. Ensure items containing hazardous materials/waste are handled/processed in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA) standards and state and local operating guidelines. Operate a forklift capable of lifting loads weighing up to 20,000 pounds to load, unload, and move material over various surfaces. Operate a flat bed or box truck up to 4.5-ton load capacity for the purpose of transporting supplies and equipment on and off the installation. Examine various items or equipment such as electronic systems, computer parts, combat vehicles weapons parts, and aircraft parts to determine condition and disposition. Moderate physical effort is used in operating forklift hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting and stopping the forklift and raising, lowering, and tilting loads being moved. WORKING CONDITIONS: The employee typically works indoors and outdoors in an environment involving everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, warehouses, or meeting rooms observance of normal safety practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations as required.
