Travel Nurse RN - Labor/Delivery in Bakersfield, CA

Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Labor & Delivery (L&D) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shifts, Every Other Weekend, First to Float Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience License: Current CA RN License Certifications: ACLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, BLS, NRP Must-Have: - Experience with Cerner documentation system - BLS & ACLS through AHA - AWHONN-Advanced certification - Strong Labor & Delivery experience - C-section experience Job Description: - Provide care in a 12-bed Labor & Delivery unit with an additional 6 triage beds. - Follow ACOG Guidelines with a 2:1 patient ratio. - Be comfortable managing high-risk patients and multiple births, occasionally up to triplets. - Manage insulin infusions and magnesium drips. - Participate in circulating and recovery roles for C-section procedures. - Maintain comprehensive and detailed charting; charting is not by exception. - Work alongside OB techs who assist with C-sections and infant care. - Collaborate with charge nurses who provide support around the clock but do not take patient assignments. - Utilize pagers linked to the call light system and internal spectralink phones for communication. - Participate in a 2-shift orientation and meet with a nurse educator and documentation review team. - Assist in recovery and provide skin-to-skin care for newborns post-delivery. - Work in a fast-paced, busy unit averaging over 300 deliveries per month. - Collaborate with a Level 3 NICU team that supports high-risk deliveries. - Benefit from resources like 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support.
