Job Title: Transportation Driver
Reports To: Director of Nursing
Hours: Flexible, depending on transportation needs
Requirements: Current FL CNA Certification and a clean driving record.
Position Summary
The Transportation Driver is responsible for providing transportation for residents to and from various locations in accordance with established schedule or based on immediate needs. He/she will perform routine and preventive maintenance on vehicles in accordance with established safety policies, procedures, and precautions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Transports residents safely and in a timely manner to various appointments.
2. Maintains facility van in a clean and orderly fashion.
a. Notifies administration and plant manager of any needed repairs for facility van.
b. Schedules and is able to perform routine maintenance of vehicle.
3. Flexible in schedule to meet the needs of residents and facility.
4. Maintains resident confidentiality.
5. Treats residents with kindness, dignity, and respect.
6. Knows how to comply with Resident's Rights rules.
7. Promptly reports all resident complaints, accidents, and incidents to supervisor.
8. Understands and uses Universal Precautions and follows established infection control, hazardous waste, and other safety rules.
9. Attends and participates in orientation, training, and educational activities and staff meetings.
10. Must be in appropriate dress and make a positive appearance.
General Responsibilities
Performs all tasks and duties in an efficient and safe manner.
Performs other related duties as assigned or as necessary. Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by departmental and organizational needs.
Represents Aventura Health Group in a manner that conveys professionalism, confidentiality, courtesy, fairness, personal integrity, and respect for others.
Qualifications
A. Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or equivalent required
FL CNA Certification required
Excellent driving record
Must be at least 18 years of age
B. Skills and Abilities
Ability to operate a wheelchair lift on a van or bus required to ensure patient safety and security
Must be able to assist other staff when needed in transferring residents to and from vehicle
Excellent knowledge of all Florida Department of Transportation laws and regulations required
Must have a clean driving record with no incidents
Must have a positive attitude toward the elderly
Must speak and understand English
