Loader/Delivery Driver
We are looking to expand our staff and currently have openings for positions that involve working in various areas of the nursery, as priorities often shift throughout the day. The three main focus areas are loading, grounds work, planting and landscaping, and unloading/unpacking. All positions require a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. We are looking for self-starters who are responsible, highly motivated, and eager to grow their knowledge in the nursery field. These are excellent entry-level opportunities for anyone interested in gaining hands-on experience in a garden center environment.
We are seeking a motivated and hardworking individual to join the team at Barton Springs Nursery as a Loader/Delivery Driver. This role is perfect for those who enjoy physical work and love being outdoors.
Primary Responsibilities:
Loading Duties:
• Assist customers by loading bags of soil, mulch, and other heavy items into their vehicles.
• Maintain a positive and proactive attitude while interacting with customers and team members.
• Ensure customer pickups are handled smoothly and efficiently.
• Keep loading areas clean, organized, and safe for customers and staff.
• Help in other areas of the nursery as needed, offering a chance to gain experience across different functions.
Deliveries:
• Occasionally handle outbound deliveries, transporting orders directly to customers' homes.
• Drive a pickup truck or a box truck with a lift gate; a clean driving record is required.
• Be comfortable driving vehicles with large loads and navigating various routes.
• Inform us of any prior driving or delivery experience, which is a plus.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Customer Assistance: Provide friendly and efficient service, ensuring a positive last impression as guests leave.
• Tidiness Maintenance: Keep all customer areas and loading zones tidy and well-organized.
• Bathroom Maintenance: Regularly check, clean, and restock the customer's bathroom to maintain high cleanliness standards.
• Trash Management: Collect and properly dispose of trash, ensuring all receptacles are clean and emptied regularly.
• Customer Interaction: Engage with customers positively, assisting with inquiries and directing them to appropriate areas within the nursery.
Qualifications:
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy items, up to 40 lbs, repeatedly.
• Comfortable standing and working on your feet for extended periods.
• Attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and organization.
• Effective communication skills for engaging with customers and team members.
• Willingness to perform varied tasks and assist in different areas of the nursery.
Requirements:
• Physical ability to lift moderately heavy loads, work outdoors, and stand for extended periods.
• Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
