Job Description:

The Director of Medical Transport Clinical Standards, Education and Logistics will oversee the development and implementation of education programs, including new employee orientation for clinical staff, clinical standards and guidelines, quality assurance methodology, and operational logistics systems. This role ensures that staff are equipped with the latest knowledge, skills, and equipment to perform the highest level of evidence-based practice. This role will manage and grow the Air Medical Charter program to improve the scope and reach of critical care services. This strategic role focuses on enhancing patient outcomes for patients in all the communities Intermountain Medical Transport services. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams is essential to promote continuous improvement across the spectrum of care delivered.

Essential Functions

  1. Develops, grows, and leads the Education, Clinical Excellence, and Logistics program for the entire Intermountain Medical Transport.
  2. Fosters a solutions-focused team dedicated to the care and transport of patients in every community Intermountain Medical Transport services.
  3. Maintains and develops the transport medical equipment, medical supply, and pharmacy capability to optimally integrate across transport platforms and with Intermountain hospitals.
  4. Develops and grows an internal and outreach education process and plan for the entire Medical Transport Program with offerings for regional mission partners and a national transport audience.
  5. Leads and grows the Air Medical Charter operations program within Intermountain Medical Transport.
  6. Interfaces with and collaborates with Intermountain clinical program, operating lanes, and departments to include Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Trauma, Pediatrics, Maternal Fetal Management, Respiratory Therapy, Mechanical Cardiac Specialty, Telehealth, and Clinical Command Center, Outreach, and Clinical Excellence.
  7. Acts as a Financial Steward of the Education and Logistics processes, developing a strategic plan to reduce waste and create efficiencies across the entire Medical Transport Portfolio, to include standardization of supplies, equipment, and asset allocation.
  8. Collaborates with and assists the Strategic Insights team to develop quality platforms and logical data analytic methodology for patient care delivery and education impact and effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Relevant clinical licensure or certification
  2. Demonstrated critical care transport experience
  3. Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams
  4. Working knowledge of operational and critical care best practices and industry standards
  5. Demonstrated experience with staff development, support, and recruiting
  6. Familiar with all clinical and operational specialty services
  7. Experience with budgeting and expense control
  8. Ability to travel, occasionally overnight

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing, business management, healthcare management, or EMS management
  2. Three years of critical care transport experience
  3. Registered Nurse or National Registry Paramedic
  4. Experience managing teams

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
  2. Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  3. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
  4. For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$57.75 - $89.14
