Travel RN - Labor and Delivery

Location: Greenbrae, CA

Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Labor & Delivery to join our partner hospital in Greenbrae, CA. This is a part-time travel assignment with night shifts, offering the chance to contribute your expertise in a supportive and patient-focused environment.

Responsibilities:

Patient Care: Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum stages, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being.

Assessment & Planning: Utilize the nursing process to formulate nursing diagnoses, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate the effectiveness of care provided.

Interventions: Perform therapeutic nursing interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.

Patient Education: Educate patients and families on the birthing process, postpartum care, and newborn care, adapting your approach to their specific needs and cultural background.

Collaboration: Work closely with the interdisciplinary team, including obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals, to provide seamless and coordinated care.

Emergency Response: Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, demonstrating proficiency in critical care interventions.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care in the electronic medical record (EMR).

Leadership & Advocacy: Demonstrate leadership and delegation skills, advocating for patient needs and ensuring the highest quality of care.

Qualifications:

Education:

Sufficient education to obtain a valid California RN license.

Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of recent L&D experience (within the last 3 years), preferably in a center serving high-risk patients.

Demonstrated proficiency in all items of the Staff Nurse Skills Criteria by the end of the probationary period.

Licenses/Certifications:

Current valid California RN license.

BLS-HCP with the American Heart Association as required by hospital policy.

Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification is required.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) with the American Heart Association is required.

Completion of Advanced Fetal Monitoring course within the last 2 years.

Completion of Baby Friendly Education within six months of hire.

Completion of fetal monitoring educational modules within 6 months of hire and annually thereafter.

Skills:

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Ability to organize and prioritize work, demonstrating effective time management.

Ability to read, speak, write, understand, and follow English verbal and written instructions.

Schedule:

Part-Time: 36 hours/week

Shift: Night

Hours per Two-Week Period: 72

Shift Hours: 12-hour shifts
