With a Class A CDL and the proper endorsements, you may drive the following types of vehicles: Tractor-trailers Truck and trailer combinations, and Flatbeds. With a Class A license the Driver can operate any combination of vehicles with a gross combination weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, provided the towed vehicle is heavier than 10,000 pounds.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares truck for operation by inspecting general condition; checking fluid levels and tire pressure; obtaining or scheduling required repairs; validating adherence to road-ability standards.
- Will be required to move or re-arrange pallets by using a pallet jack (manual or electric) to ensure proper securing of the items as well as to ensure no damage during transit; will assist the unloading of product at customer locations.
- Delivers items by following the pre-established routes; supervising the unloading and loading of the product; maintaining a strict schedule.
- Ensures the operation of equipment and vehicle by completing preventive maintenance requirements, troubleshooting and calling for repairs when required.
- Maintains safety checks, safe operations and clean appearance by complying with the Company's operational policies, procedures and standards as well as federal, state and local driving rules and regulations; cleans truck exterior and interior.
- Produces and maintains paperwork related to deliveries and driver paperwork such as driver logs and time sheets.
- Verifies shipping instructions and other special delivery information, as needed
- May help support truck loading and off-loading process.
- Follows scheduled delivery schedules to optimizing trucking and transportation related costs.
- Demonstrates key product knowledge of Calavo's Transportation systems and strategies, and will be entrusted to use diligence and care with considerable and impactful configuration updates to these systems.
- Regularly interacts with cross-functional team representatives and other departments to resolve issues with management of shipping and/or receiving exceptions.
- Builds strong working relationships with internal and external customers as needed.
- Responsible for identifying issues related to rejected shipments, up charges, damaged goods, fees, service charges, etc.
- Escalates difficult matters to the Manager and keeps them abreast of all Transportation and delivery issues.
- Performs other duties as needed.
- High School diploma required or equivalent.
- Valid CDL-A driving license
- Be at least 23 years or older.
- Previous OTR experience - more than 2+ year
- Clean MVR (no accidents in the past 3 years)
- No DUI in the past 5 years
- Ability to work early morning, evening hours. Availability for Weekend OT as required
- Thorough knowledge of federal and state trucking regulations
- Double/Triple endorsement helpful
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment physical including a drug and alcohol screening as required by federal law for all commercial drivers.
- Ability to speak, read, and write including the ability to communicate work directions and issues in a clear, professional manner in English; fluency Spanish is helpful.
- Working knowledge of current (or similar) transportation operations
- Ability to operate manual and electric pallet jacks.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to apply logical thinking and exercise sound judgment while driving.
Pay Range:
- The base hourly wage we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $21.63- $32.45.
- The actual hourly wage for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience.
- Please note that base pay is one important aspect of a compelling Total Rewards package. The base pay range indicated here does not include any additional benefits or cash bonuses that you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
