Role Summary:
The Driver Lead will assist in coordinating all daily distributions. This position will be responsible for assisting the Distribution Supervisor in ensuring the safe and timely delivery of quality products to 7-Eleven stores. Ensuring deliveries are completed in a professional and cost-effective manner by running routes and training new drivers. This position behaves in a way that is consistent with the organization's values and ensures that individuals are working in a manner that is consistent with organizational values.
Essential Competencies of the Role:
- Operations
- Assist and ensure all proper processes are being followed by each driver, including manifests, FER's, RDM's, DOT logs, and driver issue logs on a daily basis.
- Assist with monitoring fleet of trucks daily to ensure all trucks are clean and in good repair for delivery.
- Engages in department discussion to improve processes and outputs by sharing ideas and approaches
- Follow processes for the vehicle crash and workman comp reporting procedures to assist drivers in completing incident reports and contacting Fleet Response.
- Implements, or adapts, team initiatives to better meet the needs of the department mission by setting and communicating team short term goals. Recognizes when they, as an individual, do not know all information, and includes others in the decision-making process.

- Assist in training and coaching all drivers following training guidelines and Best Practices.
- Reports all concerns and employee relation issues to direct supervisor, including Sr. HR Manager when applicable or for guidance.
- Supports employee recognition programs and assists with Spirit Award & Safety Champion nominations.

- Food Safety and Quality
- Be responsible for, and follow safety, health, HACCP, and OSHA regulations by participating in and leading safety meetings, reporting hazardous conditions and performing job according to Best Practices.
- Client Relationships
- Build good working relationships with store clerks/customer, conduct audits, work with customer on any complaints for resolution
- Safety and Food Quality Compliance
- Complete required safety training on monthly basis
- Use all equipment necessary for completion of your role in a safe and effective manner
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Best Practices; work environment must be kept clean
- Keep products within proper HACCP/AIB guidelines at all times
- Ensure food temperature compliance, by checking temperatures as required by standard work, and immediately notifying leadership of issues
- Successfully complete the mandatory E. A. Sween Quarterly Safety Training sessions for the purpose of complying with both OSHA regulations and EA Sween policy.
- Complete HAACP/Food Security training as necessary
- Follow all "Good House Keeping" and Best Practices; work environment must be kept clean, including mopping up spills immediately.
- Transportation
- Support EA Sween's Safety Culture; maintain and drives company route truck safely and uses equipment properly to load and unload truck.
- Logs into the on-board ELD (Electronic Logging Device) using own login at the appropriate time, making required entries at the appropriate time. Paper copies are only used if ELD is not operational; submits other required documentation as needed on time.
- Complete knowledge and understanding of assigned vehicle operations, i.e....regen, maintain vehicle, keep vehicle clean inside and outside, PM, pre-trip and post trip inspection
- Safety
- Ensure all employees cooperate with all aspects of the E.A. Sween Company Safety program and polices. Work with all drivers to reduce the number of vehicle incidents and WC incidents.
- Be responsible for, and follow safety and health regulations. Participate in safety meetings, report hazardous conditions, and perform your job according to Best Practices.
- Supervise the training and coaching of Leads and Drivers including: new driver training field-classroom program, monthly safety, and quarterly online safety training, equipment usage, and customer service.
- Ensure all employees cooperate with all aspects of the E.A. Sween Company Safety program.
Required Qualifications:
- Comply with DOT regulations and have a valid Driver's License in the state which you reside. (Class A or B required if working within a fleet that a CDL is required to operate)
- Must be a good team player and be able to effectively communicate with CDC customers and employees.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DOT Medical Card
- Pass criminal background check/drug screen
- Clean MVR, consistent with our Safe Driving Program
- 21 years of age
- Must be able to operate hand held tablet, cell phone, and electric pallet jack (where applicable)
- Must be able to read, write, and speak basic English
Preferred Qualification (if Applicable):
- Previous training, lead, or supervisory experience
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- 3 years previous driving experience
- Previous customer service experience preferred
- Lift Gate experience
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to lift 75 lbs
- Ability to push/pull 250 lbs
- Ability to operate a 2 - 4-wheel handcart.
- Step safely in/out and operate company route truck per company standard practices and DOT regulations.
- Bend, turn, twist, step up, lift overhead, push, and pull.
- Must be able to perform kneeling, squatting, turning, reaching over shoulder height, waist level and from floor.
- Work in a widely varying temperature environment indoors and outdoors, including all weather conditions.
- Must be willing to work all hours, days, nights, weekends and holidays
