PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
As an EARTHWORK excavator operator , your primary responsibility is to operate heavy machinery, specifically excavators,* to perform various tasks related to excavation, earthmoving, and construction projects. Our jobsites can be anywhere within 50 miles away from the office. Meaning we could have jobsites in Zephyrhills, Wesley Chapel, Lakeland, Haines City, Bartow etc. Applicants MUST have valid drivers license and be able to commute to our jobsites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but is not limited to the following:
- Operate and control excavators to perform tasks such as digging, trenching, grading, and loading/unloading.
- Follow project plans, blueprints, and instructions to determine the scope and sequence of excavation tasks.
- Conduct pre-operation equipment checks to ensure proper functioning of the excavator.
- Safely maneuver the excavator on construction sites, maintaining awareness of the surroundings and avoiding hazards.
- Excavate and remove earth, rock, or debris as required, while maintaining slope stability and minimizing environmental impact.
- Operate attachments such as buckets, hydraulic hammers, grapples, and augers to perform specific tasks.
- Collaborate with other construction crew members and communicate effectively to ensure efficient workflow and project coordination.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on the excavator, such as lubricating, cleaning, and inspecting equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Adhere to safety regulations and best practices to prevent accidents, injuries, and damage to property.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, or safety concerns to supervisors.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and other vehicles.
- Arrives at jobsite and all office meetings on time.
- Perform other dues as assigned by supervisor
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an excavator operator.
- Proficiency in operating excavators and associated controls is essential.
- Familiarity with construction processes, site preparation, and excavation techniques is valuable.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols, hazard identification, and safe work practices is crucial to maintain a secure work environment.
- Excavator operators must be physically fit and able to sit for extended periods, operate controls with precision, and handle the demands of the job.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to stand, sit, climb, walk, stand on an ongoing basis, lift 50-75 lbs. spent 95% of time outside.
