Project Delivery Manager - Energy & Utility Consulting - 1898 & Co. (Atlanta)

1898 & Co. is looking for its next leader to manage the project execution teams within the Energy & Utilities Consulting group focused on power generation and system planning. Our Energy & Utilities Consulting team provides a wide range of services to the power industry supporting our clients as they navigate the energy transition from fossil fuels to renewable resources. We are looking for a leader to manage the team(s) executing services in our business lines focused on power generation and delivery, including:

1. Transmission planning
2. Distribution planning
3. Power supply planning
4. Utility investment planning
5. Renewable energy development (solar and wind)
6. Generation asset advisory
7. Utility financial analysis

The Project Delivery Manager will report directly to a Director within 1898 & Co. and will manage a team of consultants and analysts assigned to one or more of the Energy & Utilities Consulting group. The Project Delivery Manager is responsible for the managerial direction and leadership of the section and resources organized to that section. This includes supporting the execution of project delivery within one or more of the business lines, as well as supporting other adjacent business lines within the department and other departments. Key roles include supporting the business strategy outlined by the business line leads and managing directors, developing high-performing teams, coordinating training, resource management, supporting quality reviews, and promoting the Burns & McDonnell culture, values, and mission. The Project Delivery Manager will lead the section in a dynamic and profitable manner based on Burns & McDonnell's core values of client satisfaction, commitment, dedication, integrity, safety and overall outstanding service as well as the 1898 & Co. transformative traits of tenacious problem solvers, curious seekers, unselfish collaborators, and grit.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide leadership to the team; direct and coordinate work assignments and review performance to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.
2. Support profitable growth of the department, including ensuring staff levels, staff loading, and staff assignments meet project requirements while maintaining billable goals.
3. Implement, apply and support company, global practice and/or regional office programs and initiatives; successfully navigating and managing change within the section.
4. Provide expert level technical guidance and support.
5. Achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance.
6. Coordinate workload for the team and communicate status of workload, billable time, and needs for additional workload or staffing needs to managing directors and business line leads, or regional management and applicable project managers.
7. Recruitment, development, training and retention of staff.
8. Responsible for conducting performance evaluation for direct reports.
9. Provide leadership, guidance, instruction, and monthly one-on-one meetings to direct reports.
10. Responsible for interpreting policies, purposes and goals of the organization to staff.
11. Responsible for collaborating with business development managers, managing directors, business line leads, project managers, and proposal production staff on proposals to secure work for staff.
12. Responsible for overall QA/QC process adherence.
13. Ensure compliance with company and safety policies.
14. Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
15. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, business or related degree from accredited program.
2. Minimum 5 years related professional experience.
3. Previous leadership and/or management experience is preferable.
4. Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
5. Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.
6. Must possess strong people management skills, interpersonal skills, project management experience, and a strategic perspective.
7. Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
