Hostler Driver - Ground Person
Los Angeles, CA (DTLA)
Pay Rate: $20.09 per hour
Paid Weekly
Starting pay for the Hostler Driver-Ground Person position is $20.09 per hour which increases to $21.12 per hour after six (6) months and $23.69 per hour after one year of service.
Summary:
Employees will train at the entry-level Ground Person position for a minimum of two weeks. The ground person is responsible for directing crane operators who are loading and unloading cargo containers from railcars. The ground person is also responsible for preparing railcars for loading and unloading by removing and installing IBC locks. Employees will also be trained in the Hostler Driver position. Drivers perform a variety of driving tasks, including hauling containers from the rail track to other areas of the intermodal yard for outside driver pickup, moving chassis, and moving containers about the intermodal yard in a safe and efficient manner.

This position is unionized and after a 120-day probation period, you will become a union member.
Must have open availability to work any needed shift and weekends. Employees are subject to a shift change every six months. The following schedules are seniority-based:
- 12:00 PM-8:30 PM
- 8:00 PM - 4:30 AM
- 4:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Once certified as a driver, mandatory overtime is assigned based on operational demand.

• 18 years of age or older
• Valid driver's license
• Willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Must comply with established safety rules, policies, and procedures, including wearing required safety equipment
