School Bus Driver

The Alexandria School District Transportation Department plays a vital role in the daily operations of the school district by managing the logistics of student transportation. We are responsible for the safe transport of students to and from school, extracurricular activities, field trips, and other district-sponsored events. Our team is committed to maintaining high standards of safety, punctuality, and professionalism. The ideal bus driver will be reliable, flexible and have a clean driving record and a desire to help their local community.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform thorough vehicle inspections, safety checks, and maintenance, including refilling fluids, cleaning the bus, and reporting mechanical issues
Transport students safely, maintain order, follow district rules, and report disciplinary issues
Keep accurate records of mileage, fuel, and pre-trip inspections
Attend required meetings and training sessions
Demonstrate knowledge of district policies, emergency procedures, and First Aid
Proficiently use emergency equipment and communication tools
Build and maintain professional relationships with staff, students, and parents
Capable of working with children and managing student behaviors

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED
Ability to acquire a valid Commercial Driver's License Class B (training paid by district)
Clean driving record, pass background check, pass drug tests
A strong commitment to safety

Pay:

$21.49 per hour

Hours:

PT AM shift, PT PM shift or a split shift - Monday thru Friday
AM: 6:00 - 8:30
PM: 2:00 - 4:30
Opportunity for additional hours to qualify for benefits at 32+ hours/week
