About the Position
Our Temporary Ballot Couriers retrieve ballots from Ballot Drop Boxes and securely deliver them to our central warehouse for processing. The position is a temporary assignment with Maricopa County supporting the elections before, during, and after the election cycle.

This position requires a High School Diploma or GED.
Other Requirements
- Must be a registered voter or have the ability to become a registered voter in the State of Arizona
- Must pass an applicable background screening
- Position may require the use of a County or personal vehicle, which will require a valid driver's license, current auto insurance, a reliable vehicle, and attendance in Maricopa County's Defensive Driving Course
- Must be able to work overtime as necessary
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
- One or more years of professional driving experience
- One or more years of warehouse experience
- One or more years of election experience
- Works in teams of two representing different political affiliations (e.g. Republican and Democrat)
- Retrieves ballots from Ballot Drop Boxes and securely delivers them to the central warehouse for processing
- Completes a chain-of-custody form that is signed by a Polling Location or Vote Center Inspector to ensure the lawful hand-off and transportation of ballots
- A peer audit is conducted when ballots arrive at the central warehouse and ballots are prepared for transport
- Assists other divisions with election activities
- Full-time/Temporary/Overtime hours are mandatory during the election cycle
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift floor-to-shoulder and shoulder-to-waist of up to 25 pounds and carry for 100 feet
- Ability to push/pull a minimum of up to 50 pounds for 100 feet
- Ability to stoop and bend
- Upper extremity repetitive motions
- Utilizing personal or county vehicle
- Work environment may be indoors or outdoors as needed
- Only the most qualified candidates will be considered
