Job Requirements / Description
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse
**Job Specialty:** Labor & Delivery
**Job Duration:** 13 Weeks
**Shift:** 7PM - 7AM
**Guaranteed Hours:**
**Experience:** Minimum 1 year in a related nursing specialty preferred
**License:** RN License in state of employment or compact
**Certifications:**
- BLS required
- Current Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification (C-EFM) or AWHONN course equivalent
- Current ACLS certification
- Current NRP certification
**Must-Have:**
- All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
- New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member.
- Completion of perinatal department-specific and annual competency verification requirements.
**Job Description:**
- Independently provide routine and complex care in a clinical setting.
- Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
- Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitor for side-effects and effectiveness.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers.
- Utilize critical thinking skills for comprehensive patient assessment.
- Develop and modify specific care plans using evidence-based practice.
- Implement patient care and therapeutic procedures; monitor and document treatment progression.
- Evaluate and reassess patient care and treatment outcomes.
- Plan and facilitate patient flow, including admission, discharge, and transfer needs.
- Ensure departmental staffing needs are met and participate in resourcing efforts.
- Educate and train others on industry operations, ethics, and regulations.
- Incorporate patient safety practices to promote positive outcomes.
- Participate in nursing research and quality improvement activities.
- Maintain compliance with healthcare-related laws and regulations.
- Manage medical equipment and ensure supplies are in proper working order.
- Process medical orders accurately and efficiently.
- Interpret patient charts and alert staff to mistakes or omissions.
- Ensure patient safety for one or more patient groups or settings.
- Use appropriate systems to document misses and near misses, and engage in real-time analysis and reporting.
