Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of those in need? Join our team at San Diego Rescue Mission as a Warehouse Truck Driver for our Partner for Hunger Relief program! We're looking for energetic individuals who are passionate about serving the community, providing essential support to our mission of feeding the hungry and providing clothing to those experiencing homelessness.
Responsibilities:
As a Warehouse Truck Driver, you'll play a crucial role in our daily operations:

  • Responsible for food and material donation pickups in San Diego County.
  • Safely load, unload, and pack trucks to ensure the integrity of donations.
  • Maintain regular communication with warehouse personnel and follow all food handling guidelines.
  • Provide excellent customer service to donors and complete daily food pickup reports.
  • Adhere to safety measures and maintain truck inspections log according to state and federal regulations.
  • Flexibility to work in the warehouse and assist with food distribution as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum high school diploma.
  • Minimum two-year work experience as a truck driver in a 26' box truck, preferably for a food service establishment.
  • Previous experience with the homeless, substance abusers, mentally ill, and/or dually diagnosed preferred.
  • Nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Current Food Handler's card and Forklift certification.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to coordinate and direct complex tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and be trained.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Provide information to the public by answering questions and requests.
  • Regular, timely attendance.
