New England College of Optometry (NECO) is a full-time, professional graduate school located in Boston. The Temporary Shuttle Bus Operator will provide transportation to students on a determined schedule between New England College of Optometry's teaching campus located in Back Bay and the College's clinical campus located at 930 Commonwealth Avenue. The campus shuttle is a 14-passenger van and the route between the College's campuses is approximately 5 miles round trip.
- This is a non-exempt, 35-40 hour a week position
- This is a Monday – Friday position with a variable daily schedule with unscheduled breaks
Temporary Shuttle Bus Driver Responsibilities:
- Provide punctual, safe and reliable transportation to students between the college's two campuses following a daily schedule in keeping with class start and end times
- Transport prospective students from Beacon Street Campus to the clinic for scheduled visitation tours for the Admissions Department
- Ensure the safety and security of passengers by exercising sound judgment and safe driving practices while operating the shuttle and in navigating traffic
- Communicate with Facilities Department and Academic Affairs to stay appraised of the transportation schedule, which may vary from day to day and change each semester
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and other documentation regarding transportation activities and vehicle maintenance.
- Responsible for the upkeep of the vehicle including interior and exterior cleanliness and ensuring integrity of vehicle's interior and exterior surfaces and materials.
NECO is not able to sponsor work authorizations for this job role.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Per the college's Motor Vehicle Use Policy, any driver of a NECO owned vehicle must be at least 24 years of age
- Must possess at least 3 full years of Shuttle Bus driving experience and a valid driver's license , and meet licensing requirements for the state of Massachusetts
- Must possess a clean driving record; a thorough review of candidate's Motor Vehicle Record will be conducted before hire to ensure compliance with the College's Motor Vehicle Use Policy and insuring carrier.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong attention to safety procedures and time management
- Must speak, write and understand the English language
- Other duties as assigned
