Travel Nurse RN - Labor/Delivery in Bakersfield, CA

**Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, NRP
**Must-Have:** Proficiency with the Cerner documentation system
**Job Description:**
- Work in a 12-bed L&D unit with 6 triage beds for patient overflow.
- Manage patient ratios per ACOG guidelines (2:1).
- Collaborate with OB techs assisting with C-sections and baby care.
- Participate in a 2-shift orientation and meet with a unit educator for file reviews.
- Engage with a charge nurse available around the clock, who does not take patients.
- Follow a break schedule compliant with CA law: 1/2 hour break (clock-out) and 3 - 15 min breaks per shift.
- Wear scrubs provided by the hospital.
- Deliver high-risk patients, including multiple births, and manage insulin and magnesium drips.
- Handle circulating and recovery processes for C-sections, tubal, or emergent hysterectomy surgeries; no elective abortions conducted on the unit.
- Participate in baby recovery and skin-to-skin post-delivery activities.
- Work with a level 3, almost level 4 NICU supporting high-risk deliveries.
- Maintain comprehensive charting (not by exception only) and adhere to established care protocols.
- Be accustomed to a high-paced, busy unit with over 300 deliveries per month.
- Operate within a closed unit environment, with no floating to other areas.
