Within the Solar & BESS Capital Equipment Procurement Team, we are seeking a Procurement Director to manage a team of four Project Category Procurement Managers to support with Solar PV & BESS equipment tendering, negotiating and contracting for RWE CE. This role’s critical responsibility will be the coordination the demand and the approval process with key internal stakeholders such as Development, Preconstruction and I&V, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of four Project Category Procurement Managers to support with Solar PV & BESS equipment tendering, negotiating and contracting for RWE CE Supervise the teams day to day activities and be a point of escalation where needed
  • Develop a thorough and comprehensive understanding of the project portfolio to ensure demand is channeled to the Project Category Procurement Managers and ensure procurement is kicked off in time and contract execution is followed up
  • Develop relationships and coordinate activity with key internal stakeholders, such as Development, Preconstruction, I&V, Risk Controlling across the various interfaces, processes (e.g. approval or FID gate paper process)
  • Support the team with personal development and training
  • Set the team’s objectives & performance manage
  • Ensure thorough project details are collected and collated and communicated to the VP of Solar & BESS Procurement on a weekly basis
  • Support the team in capturing business demands and handle competitive tendering, negotiation and contract execution for solar and battery projects
  • Support the team to review and levelize vendor proposals and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and mitigate complex risk through negotiation of applicable terms and conditions
  • Manage documentation, budgets, schedules and key stakeholder interfaces in preparation for weekly management meetings
  • Act as the escalation point of contact to suppliers in the sourcing process and coordinate interfaces with RWE’s Business, Credit, Finance and Commercial, Technical, Legal and Health and Safety Teams
  • Drive Supplier Relationship Management and Evaluation. Implement contractor performance and risk measures
  • Ensure that policies, compliance rules and processes are properly implemented and observed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with preference for Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Management
  • Minimum 8years of experience in the Renewable Energy Industry with a focus on Procurement and contract negotiation
  • People management experience desirable
  • Thorough knowledge of competitive bid process of Equipment contracts and negotiation techniques
  • Experience in drafting, negotiating and contract management of high value and high risk capital equipment contracts
  • Knowledge (suppliers, markets, trends) of the Solar PV and BESS energy industry
  • Experience of liaising with senior management within critical departments & building good relationships
  • Highly developed analytical and communication skills, combined with a structured work style and a pragmatic hands-on approach
  • Ability to challenge “conventional” thinking, considers others’ views and convinces with facts considering a proactive approach to overcome resistance
  • Strong eye for detail and ensuring accuracy in exchange of information and contracts
  • Team player with strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen
  • Experience and willingness to work independently in a fast-changing environment and in an international team
  • Sound knowledge of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and SAP. Ability to learn new systems and tools rapidly
  • Readiness to travel both nationally and internationally
  • Business fluent proficiency in English. Spanish and German language skills are a benefit but not essential

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in California is $146,900 - $220,300. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
