Local OTR CDL Driver

The Local OTR CDL Driver is responsible for transporting goods between distribution centers, warehouses, and customers in a designated region. This role involves operating a commercial vehicle, ensuring safe and timely deliveries, and adhering to all federal and state regulations. The driver is expected to maintain communication with dispatch, inspect their vehicle before and after trips, and ensure accurate load and delivery documentation. The local OTR CDL driver will assist with various operational tasks during downtime, as directed by management.
Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT regulations.
• Transport goods on pre-determined routes, often covering distances within a local or regional area.
• Ensure timely pickup and delivery of cargo, with an emphasis on customer service.
• Inspect vehicle for mechanical issues and perform preventative maintenance as needed.
• Secure loads to ensure products are safe for transport and comply with weight and balance regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of hours of service, trip logs, cargo, and delivery documentation.
• Communicate regularly with dispatch and report any delays, accidents, or equipment failures.
• Follow all traffic laws and company policies regarding the safe operation of the truck.
• Assist with loading and unloading cargo as necessary.
• Maintain yard cleanliness, organize pallets, clean paved areas, and make sure docks are clean and free of debris.
• Assist in box making and organizing materials in the box making area.
• Safely move pallets of completed boxes onto storage trailers/containers.
• Other warehouse daily tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

• Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
• 2+ years of experience in OTR or local driving.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and hours of service rules.
• Ability to operate various types of vehicles and trailers, including refrigerated trailers.
• Ability to lift heavy items and assist in loading/unloading as needed.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Working Conditions:

• Primarily driving within a regional area with possibility of very early or late shifts based on receiver appointment requirements.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions and road environments.
• Flexible schedule, with potential weekend or night shifts.
