The Transportation Driver II is responsible for transporting crews and captains and performing miscellaneous transportation tasks. Duties include but are not limited to, driving, dispatching, coordinating, and communicating transport routes, occasional office activities, and other related services for the company as needed. This position works shifts including but not limited to late nights, early mornings, and weekend shifts. Safety, reliability, and communication are the keys to the success of this position. Due to the nature of this role, the Transportation Driver II must work well with others and be very flexible as tasks constantly change throughout each shift.
Specific Essential Job Duties

  • Provides on-call, safe, courteous, and timely transportation services for vessel crews and captains.
  • Picks up and drops off passengers and luggage in various locations within the dispatched areas, such as ports, airports, hotels, etc.
  • Communicates with dispatchers by phone or computer to receive requests for passenger service.
  • Maps out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most expedient trips.
  • Listens to traffic and weather reports to stay up to date on road conditions.
  • Abides by all federal, state, and local laws, including all transportation rules, guidelines, and safety regulations; ensures passengers also follow applicable safety regulations.
  • Makes required trips to United States Immigration Control, and U.S. Customs Office to ensure all necessary documentation is ready for arrivals and departures.
  • Submits accident reports accurately and timely when necessary.
  • Reports vehicle problems to management timely upon discovery.
  • Ensures vehicles are always in a safe working condition.
  • Ensures vehicle equipment such as brakes, lights, windshield wipers, etc., is maintained and operating properly.
  • Conducts routine maintenance on vehicles including adding gasoline, oil, and water and checking tire pressure; ensures more specialized maintenance and repairs are performed.
  • Maintains cleanliness of vehicle.
  • Assists with dispatching calls to drivers as they are received, using information on daily factors such as arrivals, departures, locations, and customer needs to balance cost and speed of response.
  • Resolves escalated customer and employee calls and issues promptly.
  • Courteously interacts with internal and external customers.
  • Assists with transport scheduling assignments including driving.
  • Prepares reporting for management from time to time as needed.
  • Performs administrative duties regarding customs per CBP procedure and customs regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as designated by management or executive level management.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three to five (3-5) years as a transportation driver.
  • Previous verifiable dispatching experience.
  • Previous security, safeguard, airport, and maritime experience helpful.
  • Possess good organization skills and ability to multi-task procedural and project management tasks within short time constraint situations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets.
  • Must be able to pass a Federal and State background screening.
  • Must be able to work daily, including some weekends, nights, holidays, etc.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License with an acceptable/clean motor vehicle record (MVR).
  • Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) is highly preferred and must be obtained upon acceptance of the position or within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

This role will spend a significant amount of time driving. This includes being able to sit comfortably for extended periods of time both during a trip and on standby awaiting passengers. Additionally, there will be some bending/stooping, lifting, walking, standing, and carrying of transport items such as luggage, clothing, boxes, and personal effects of the passengers up to 50 pounds.
On-hire times can vary greatly and are dependent on several external factors including the arrival and departure of vessels, airplanes, and ferries, therefore the manager will need to be able to maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate passenger needs and demand. This can include early morning and late evening requirements.
