Project Delivery Director - Engineering, Procurement & Construction

Overview: Cloud Operations + Innovation is the team behind the cloud. Within CO+I, Datacenter Construction Delivery (DCD) is responsible for delivering datacenter capacity for Microsoft's cloud business meeting all safety, quality, sustainability, schedule, and budget requirements. The DCD Construction Americas (AMER) Project Delivery Director - Engineering, Procurement & Construction provides critical leadership, ownership and accountability for the team's deployment and delivery of large-scale, campus and/or regionally based delivery solutions to predictably deliver Datacenter capacity.

This role is responsible for safe worksites by adhering to organizational and industry procedures; reviews prior audit results and relevant legislation to recommend and manage safety compliance. Influences and provides direction and coaching to internal and external partners to facilitate and accomplish complex, critical issues which may significantly impact global construction projects. Reviews and provides feedback to the team regarding resource procurement, allocation, and inventory. Develops, manages, and reports on Safety, Quality, scope, schedule, and budget for the AMER regional projects. Responsible for oversight and implements project risk identification/mitigation, governance and controls for all construction work activities. Partners and provides critical leadership with peers in Engineering, Supply Chain and Project Controls that forms the AMER Leadership Team (LT).

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide critical leadership, ownership and accountability for the team's deployment and delivery of large-scale, campus and/or regionally based delivery solutions to predictably deliver DataCenter capacity.
  2. Advocate for safe worksites by adhering to Microsoft Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) organizational requirements and industry best practices/procedures.
  3. Set goals for internal and external project teams, delegate responsibilities, measure performance against contracted key performance indicators (KPIs), and seek and deliver feedback to achieve timely results.
  4. Develop, manage, and report on Safety, Quality, scope, schedule, and budget of all AMER Sub-Regional projects.
  5. Implement project risk identification/mitigation, governance and controls for all regional work activities.
  6. Analyze and recommend innovative delivery options utilizing best practices and trends.
  7. Influence and provide direction and coaching to internal and external partners to facilitate and accomplish complex, critical issues which may significantly impact global construction projects.
  8. Lead the team's accountability for on-schedule delivery of all projects in the AMER Portfolio.
  9. Conduct frequent site visits within the Region to assess project status and risk.
  10. Prepare root cause analysis (RCA) and share lessons learned with relevant stakeholders.
