Description
The Driver/Service Workers will be part of a Mobile crew who will support the Metro contract. They will be responsible for sidewalk/curb to sidewalk/curb cleaning of the stations. This is a third shift position. The service worker will remove litter and debris from assigned, gridded areas which will be scheduled throughout the week. The service worker should have a clean driving record and be able to drive a large pick-up truck. This job involves covering the entire Rail line from St. Louis to Illinois over the course of a shift and policing, identifying and removing debris in different areas to support the Metro contract. This job is well suited to people who can work competently under minimal supervision, who have the strength and stamina to lift medium to heavy debris and possess the stamina to spend long hours on their feet, and who can follow instructions clearly and work to a set schedule.
Reports to: Director of Operations
Typical duties:
- Perform cleaning/maintenance of streets, common public areas, alleys, curbs and sidewalks.
- Complete work assignments in a timely manner.
- Utilize the appropriate tools and supplies according to procedure.
- Use and maintain vehicle and equipment properly.
- Operate and maintain all equipment correctly and safely
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Reports safety hazards as appropriate
- Perform other duties as assigned
Professional Requirements:
- Adhere to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
- Complete monthly/annual safety training requirements.
- Report to work on time and as scheduled.
- Wear identification while on duty.
- Maintain regulatory requirements; state, federal and local regulations.
- Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.
- Comply with all policies and standards regarding ethical business practices.
- Communicate the mission, ethics and goals of the organization.
- Participate in performance and continuous quality improvement activities.
- Attend regular staff and safety meetings.
Minimum Qualifications (Education/Experience):
Required - Valid Driver's License and clean driver's record
Preferred - One year of Janitor/Custodian or janitorial/custodian experience.
Preferred - One year of experience operating floor care or motorized equipment.
Listening skills - strong active listening skills help Service Workers follow instructions clearly and understand what is required of them before beginning a task.
Attention to detail - Service Workers ensure that the area they are managing is cleaned thoroughly, so attention to detail is a key aspect of the role
Time management - this job requires the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner and to set schedules, so applicants need good time management skills
Physical stamina - Service Workers spend most of their workday on their feet, operating vehicles and/or cleaning equipment so good physical strength and stamina is a must
Mechanical skills - this job involves using and safely driving a large pick-up truck.
