The Position Proposition:
As a Structural Engineer with a High-Voltage Substation Background, you will play a critical role in designing and analyzing the structural components of high-voltage substations, ensuring their safety, stability, and compliance with relevant industry standards and codes. Your expertise will be instrumental in providing innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges, enhancing the resilience and performance of critical electrical infrastructure.
  • Substation Structural Design: Lead the design and analysis of structural components in high-voltage substations, including foundations, support structures, gantries, bus structures, and control buildings.
  • Code Compliance: Ensure all designs adhere to national and international building codes, electrical industry standards, and safety regulations relevant to high-voltage substations.
  • Site Assessments: Conduct site assessments to evaluate the suitability of locations for new substations, taking into account geological conditions and environmental factors.
  • Engineering Calculations: Perform detailed engineering calculations, such as load analysis, seismic analysis, wind loading, and foundation design, to ensure the structural integrity of substation components.
  • Design Optimization: Continuously seek opportunities to optimize substation designs, considering cost-effectiveness, constructability, and long-term performance.
  • Project Management: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate projects, ensuring timely delivery, and providing technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in substation structures and propose mitigation strategies to enhance safety and resilience.
  • Technical Support: Offer technical expertise and guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders on structural matters related to high-voltage substations.
  • Research and Development: Stay updated with the latest advancements in substation structural engineering and contribute to research initiatives to improve industry practices.
Educational & Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on high-voltage substations.
  • Proficient in structural analysis software, such as ETABS, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, etc.
  • Solid understanding of national and international building codes and industry standards related to substations (e.g., IEEE, IEC, ASCE, NESC).
  • Experience with 3D modeling and Building Information Modeling (BIM) is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • P.E. (Professional Engineer) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Proven project management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
