National Grid is hiring a Product Delivery Principal. This position can be located in Syracuse, NY or Waltham, MA.

Job Purpose

National Grid is currently seeking an innovative, adaptable, and results-oriented Product Delivery Manager - US to join a new team in building, configuring, and aligning our systems, processes, and people in a greenfield Technology Operations Center within our Global Technology Organization. This leader will be responsible for aligning systems, processes, and people in an organization of Network Engineers, Network Technicians, and Surveillance Technicians who will be responsible to monitor and maintain National Grid's network architecture. You will work closely with Network Operations Management, Digital Ops, IT, related Vendors, subject matter experts, and others to ensure delivery on the many system enhancements, integrations, automations, and technology responsibilities to the Unified Technology Operations Center. This role will report to the Director of Global Unified Technology Operations within the National Grid IT organization.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Work with and manage technical team as it relates to system and process Engineering for internal comprehensive network support and continuous efficiencies.
  2. Defines system and process flows towards complete end to end electronic communications related to automated information flows and automated test flows.
  3. Works with and through Agile Product Delivery teams to ensure projects delivered on time and within budget.
  4. Define project scope and schedule/timeline while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value.
  5. Organize and lead project status and working meetings.
  6. Collect, prepare, and distribute progress reports to senior leadership.
  7. Manage risks, issues and action items and maintain project specific RAID.
  8. Perform delivery planning for assigned projects.
  9. Work with resource managers to identify and manage the required resources for various project assignment(s).
  10. Leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work.
  11. Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work.
  12. Communication and rapport with external contractors (where applicable).
  13. Support the Product Owner in managing customer expectations for project deliverables.
  14. Managing stakeholder communications.
  15. Helping to implement an effective system of project governance.
  16. Define and manage a well-defined project management process and champion ongoing process improvement initiatives to implement best practices for Agile Project Management.
  17. Promote empowerment of the team, ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution.
  18. Develops and maintains a network of industry contacts; performs research on industry trends, competitors, business, and IT products; analyzes trends and make strategic and tactical recommendations.
  19. Ensures system, technical and product architectures are aligned with business objectives.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree, preferably in a field related to technology, such as computer science, software engineering, IT, cybersecurity, or management information systems.
  2. Experience in Project management/Product Delivery related to large enterprise network operations centers.
  3. At least 7+ years of experience working in the technology industry with 5+ years in a leadership role.
  4. Working knowledge of Service Now, SolarWinds, Azure, Splunk, and other network support applications a plus.
  5. Ability to lead technology teams globally in US, UK, and elsewhere.
  6. Highly developed negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills.
  7. Highly developed oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills.
  8. Firm understanding of software development life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
  9. A proven track record of successfully implementing IT projects including technical projects or program involving software upgrades, product replacement, IT transformation or modernization etc.
  10. Balanced business/technical background.
  11. Sufficient level of technical background to provide highly credible leadership to development teams and to be able to evaluate complex project risks and issues accurately and objectively.
  12. Ability to provide leadership to system analysts, system administration and collaborate with customers and develop strategies and solutions of high business value.
  13. Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands.
  14. Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels including the executive level.
  15. Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the "big picture" view.
  16. One or more IT Certification such as PMP, CSM, PPM, PMI-ACP.
  17. 3+ years' experience as Project Manager managing IT Projects from initiation to close out managing medium to large, complex projects in a high-tech development environment with multi-function teams.
  18. 2+ years' experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects.
  19. 2+ years' experience overseeing multi-function project teams with at least 10-15 team members including Developers, System Administrators, QA Personnel and application users.
  20. 2+ years' experience using any of below tools, is a big plus, such as: Agile Project Management tools such as Jira, Greenhopper, Rally, VersionOne or equivalent; Project Management tools such as MPP, Smartsheet, Acuity, Trello; Microsoft Office suite - Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, SharePoint.
