POSITION SUMMARY
As a CDL Class A Driver you will play a crucial role in our logistics and transportation operations. You will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting products to their designated destinations while upholding our company's high standards for professionalism, safety, and customer service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Safe Operation: Operate and maintain commercial vehicles, primarily Class A trucks, in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all traffic laws and company safety protocols.
  • Loading and Unloading: Safely load and unload product, ensuring it is properly secured and protected during transit.
  • Route Planning: Plan and execute routes efficiently, considering traffic conditions, weather, and other factors that may impact delivery schedules.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including bills of lading, mileage logs, and inspection reports.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance tasks, reporting any issues to the maintenance team promptly.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by interacting professionally with clients and ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Compliance: Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations, including hours of service and weight restrictions.
  • Communication: Maintain clear communication with dispatch and logistics teams, providing updates on the status of deliveries and any unexpected delays.

  • Safe Driving: Safety is paramount in this role. CDL Class A drivers must have a strong commitment to safe driving practices, including defensive driving techniques, adherence to traffic laws, and maintaining a clean driving record.
  • Vehicle Operation: Proficiency in operating and maneuvering Class A commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers or other large trucks, is essential. This includes handling the vehicle in various road and weather conditions.
  • Route Planning: The ability to plan efficient routes, considering factors such as traffic, road closures, and delivery schedules, is crucial for on-time deliveries and cost-effective operations.
  • Cargo Handling: Expertise in loading and unloading product while ensuring it is properly secured and protected during transit. Knowledge of weight distribution and cargo safety is essential.
  • Documentation: Accurate record-keeping is vital. CDL drivers need to maintain logs, complete bills of lading, and document inspections and maintenance records as required by law and company policy.
  • Compliance: A strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations, including hours of service regulations, weight restrictions, and vehicle maintenance requirements, is necessary to ensure legal compliance.
  • Communication: Effective communication with clients and colleagues is important. This includes providing updates on delivery status, reporting incidents, and maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Customer Service: A customer-centric approach is important, as CDL drivers often interact with clients during deliveries. Professionalism, courtesy, and problem-solving skills are essential for maintaining positive customer relationships.
  • Mechanical Skills: Basic mechanical skills for performing routine vehicle inspections and addressing minor maintenance issues are beneficial for keeping the truck in good working condition.
  • Emergency Response: Knowledge of emergency procedures, such as what to do in case of accidents or breakdowns, is important to ensure the safety of both the driver and others on the road.
  • Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing conditions, including weather, traffic, and delivery schedules, is critical for successful route completion.
  • Physical Stamina: CDL Class A drivers often engage in physically demanding tasks, including loading and unloading cargo. Good physical fitness is important to perform these tasks safely.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Valid CDL Class A license.
  • Experience with short haul driving preferred.
  • Clean driving record with a proven track record of safety required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to DOT regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle unexpected situations on the road.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Physical fitness to handle loading and unloading tasks.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic math skills for verifying order accuracy.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • On the Road: CDL Class A drivers spend a significant amount of their workday on the road, traveling both short and long distances. This often means extended periods of driving alone.
  • Variety of Locations: The job may involve deliveries to urban areas, rural regions, industrial zones, or remote locations, depending on the company's operations.
