Job OverviewThe Delivery Room Technologists independently function in a professional manner for peri-operative procedures in Labor & Delivery, surgical scrub for C-sections, D&C's and vaginal deliveries.
Location: Lowell General Hospital - 295 Varnum Avenue - Lowell, MA
Hours: 36 hours nights - 7:00p - 7:00a/EOW, EOH
Minimum Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Before July 1, 2013, employed as a surgical technologist in a surgical facility; OR Successfully completed a training program for surgical technology in the military; OR Graduated from an accredited Surgical Tech Program.
3. 0-Less than 12 Months of healthcare experience.
4. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
1. Selects and prepares the appropriate supplies and equipment for any of the above cases.
2. Scrubs on surgical cases, participates in surgery by organizing the instrumentation for the surgeon, participating in surgical counts, and performs related activities under the directions of the surgeon.
3. When not participating on surgical cases the Delivery Room Technologist will assist the circulator, with positioning obtaining needed items during surgery, and assisting in room turnover activities.
4. The Delivery Room Technologist will participate in Labor & Delivery activities related to quality improvement, continuing education, orientation of new personnel and emergency preparedness.
5. The Delivery Room Technologist will maintain current knowledge in area(s) of surgical aseptic technique, peri-operative procedures in Labor & Delivery, surgical scrub for C-sections, D&C's and vaginal deliveries, pre-operative patient care, support of the labor patient under direct RN supervision, provide patient transportation, the ordering supplies, charge data and order entry as needed.
6. Cleans and restocks LDR rooms after a patient has delivered and been transported to another area.
7. Cleans and restocks C-section room after surgery is completed and the patient is transferred to the recovery area. Order supplies and linen for Labor & Delivery.
