Summary
The delivery helper will be responsible for assisting the delivery driver in delivering materials to our customers, ensuring that deliveries are made on time and in a professional manner. Able to work in a fast-paced environment, be able to lift heavy objects, and have a good understanding of safety protocols.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Reads and/or follows verbal instructions.
Assists the delivery driver in loading and unloading building materials onto the truck.
Helps the delivery driver in delivering the building materials to the customer's desired location.
Inspects the delivered items to ensure that they meet the customer's expectations.
Maintains accurate records of deliveries, including delivery times, items delivered, and customer information.
Reports any discrepancies or damages to the delivery driver, operations manager, or dispatcher immediately.
Assists in keeping the delivery truck and loading area clean and organized.
Follows all safety procedures and guidelines when handling building materials and operating the delivery truck or other equipment.
Communicates effectively with the delivery driver, customers, and store staff
Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
Stages or assembles materials by customer order.
Flat stacks lumber, straightens stock material, and cleans debris from lumber yard and warehouse as needed.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences in English.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
