**Job Description:**
- The labor and delivery unit accepts first-time travelers with experience in large, high-volume settings.
- The unit has a very fast-paced environment with an average of 20 births in 24 hours, 30-40 admissions, and 40 visits per day across 20 rooms.
- Float to other units as needed, especially high-risk obstetrical units.
- Weekend requirement includes every other weekend, with a minimum of six weekend shifts in a six-week schedule.
- Patient care includes obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater for all intrapartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum care. Additional care for under 16 weeks high-risk patients on a high-risk maternity unit.
- The unit performs obstetrical triage and routine outpatient procedures like antenatal fetal surveillance, intravenous hydration, and medication administration.
- Facilitate scheduled and unscheduled cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclage.
- Utilize systems such as PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR for hospital operations.
- Orientation includes 24 hours on the unit, with scrubs provided.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and high-acuity environment; not suitable for extended hour contracts due to unit busyness.
- Responsible for precepting/orienting new staff as needed.
- Requirements: complete all modules and references before start; fatigue policy restricts working more than 5 consecutive days or over 60 hours a week.
