Surgical Technologist - Labor and Delivery - Lakewood Medical Center (FT 6:45am - 7:15pm)

Job Description
The surgical technologist gathers and prepares instruments and equipment for surgical procedures; provides quality and safety to the patient guided by principles of surgical asepsis; anticipates the surgeon's needs at the field; is flexible and works well under ever changing conditions. The surgical technologist scrubs a wide variety of different procedures and has knowledge and skill to adapt to changes in the patient's condition.
Minimum Requirements
- High school Diploma or GED.
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) OR formal training in the military as a surgical corpsman or medic OR a minimum of three (3) years demonstrated scrub experience performing a wide variety of procedures.
- Current BLS and must remain current to retain position.
- Ability to stand for the majority of the work time; sometimes wearing a 10 lb. x-ray apron for several hours at a time; lifting 50lbs., pushing/pulling 125lbs., frequent lifting 1-25lb. sterile trays during the course of the day.
- Good communication and written skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and changing conditions; flexibility to adapt to scheduling changes and changes in patient condition. Good time management skills and ability to be self-directed.
