T ransport Driver – Local Deliveries of Forklifts and Material Handling Equipment

Overview:
Hoj Forklift Systems seeks outstanding candidates for a local Transport Driver to deliver and pickup various forklift equipment. The Transport Driver will be required to load, transport, and unload lift trucks and other equipment or materials to and from our local customer locations.

This job position is for a Transport Driver who will operate a heavy-duty tilt deck truck to make local deliveries of forklift equipment and/or other industrial equipment that Hoj Forklift sells and services. This is a local driver role with steady hours. When not driving, candidate will also assist in our warehouse and perform routine grounds keeping and building maintenance duties at our facility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Drive truck with capacity of 52,000 lbs. to transport and deliver equipment/materials to customer’s location.
- Secures load with chains, binders and straps as necessary.
- Safely and accurately operate equipment on vehicle to load, unload, or disperse cargo or materials.
- Ensure that all equipment serial numbers on the paperwork match the inventory loaded on the truck. Each delivery is to be verified before leaving the dock.
- Physically inspect serialized items for damage.
- Conducts overview of the safe operations of equipment and demonstrates skills to customers as needed.
- Properly complete driver daily logs and all necessary delivery tickets, trip reports, fuel reports, damage reports, and other paperwork required by company and the state and federal DOT regulations.
- Properly clean and inspect vehicle for safety related items on a daily basis.
- Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
Education and Experience :
- High School Diploma/GED
- 2+ years of verifiable commercial driving experience
- Relevant knowledge of forklifts and material handling equipment, etc. is helpful but not required.
Qualifications:

Must have a current Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brakes Endorsement.

Must provide an acceptable MVR, with a clean driving record.

Have a working knowledge of DOT regulations including rules for oversize and overweight loads.

Must have ability to operate a forklift (minimum 7,500 lb. vehicle; forklift training and certification will be provided)

Must be able to push or pull a loaded pallet jack and/or hand truck with a min. load of 70 lbs.

Demonstrate a high standard of quality and attention to detail.

Always be safety orientated and promptly notify supervisor of any safety concerns.

Be courteous, cooperative, respectful and professional in appearance and conduct when interacting with colleagues and customers.

Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations / procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines.

Comply with all safety rules and regulations both within the company premises as well as on customer’s jobsites.

Utilize sound decision making and problem-solving practices.

Work efficiently with others.

Quick comprehension, flexible and punctual.

Ability to follow instructions and work independently with limited direct supervision after training.

Positive, "CAN DO" attitude and ability to comply with company policies and procedures.

Able to perform physical labor including lifting/moving heavy objects up to 75 lbs., prolonged standing, sitting, bending, pulling, pushing, kneeling and reaching, climbing a ladder, etc.

Operational, safety and other needs may require the employee to perform any and all other duties as assigned.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physicals, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and background checks.
