Travel Nurse RN - Labor/Delivery in Bakersfield, CA

**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery

**Shift:** 12H Nights, Every Other Weekend, First to Float
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum 3 years
**License:** Current CA RN License
**Certifications:** ACLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, BLS, NRP (All must be through AHA)
**Must-Have:** Experience with Cerner documentation system
**Job Description:**
- Work in a Labor & Delivery unit with 12 L&D beds and 6 triage beds.
- Adhere to ACOG Guidelines with a patient ratio of 2:1.
- Support high-risk patients and some multiple births, including triplets.
- Administer and manage insulin and magnesium drips.
- Participate in C-sections by circulating and recovering.
- Engage in skin-to-skin recovery for babies post-delivery.
- Operate in a fast-paced, busy unit with over 300 deliveries per month.
- Collaborate with a level 3, almost level 4 NICU team for high-risk deliveries.
- Utilize provided scrubs for shifts, either from 7a-7p or 7p-7a.
- Experience required in handling emergency hysterotomies or tubal ligations when necessary.
- Mandatory documentation of all procedures, no exception-only charting.
- Engage in unit orientation consisting of two shifts on the unit and meet with educators for file reviews to ensure accurate documentation.
- Benefit from OB techs who assist with C-sections and baby care.
- Enjoy support from around-the-clock charge nurses who do not take patients.
- Note that this is a closed unit with no floating required.
- Be prepared for the hospital to potentially cancel up to 3 shifts per contract.
Make sure you are comfortable with Cerner for documentation and are a strong L&D nurse capable of handling a high-paced environment with numerous protocols in place.
