Job Description:
The Van Driver provides transportation to members of the University community. This transportation is done using a University owned vehicle and consists of scheduled runs to and from off-campus residences and other locations at which students, faculty, staff and guests are engaged in Bristol, Portsmouth, and other directed locations.
Transportation
Operate all University vehicles in a safe manner and in accordance with posted limits and all applicable state laws.
Transport students needing medical treatment to local treatment facilities.
Ensure that van capacity limits are not exceeded and that all passengers are safely seated prior to departure from each stop.
Follow all fueling procedures as required by the department.
Display a high degree of courtesy and respect to all passengers.
Adhere strictly to time schedule.
Van Maintenance & Reporting
Maintain the cleanliness of vans with all equipment fully functional.
Maintain statistics regarding the number of passengers, which board or debark the vehicle at each location, and compile statistical reports as required.
Report all vehicle issues, problems, incidents, and complaints to the Manager of Parking and Transportation.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
A valid U.S. driver's license and the absence of a negligent driving record Is required.
Must be at least 20 years old with a minimum of three years driving experience.
Must complete RWU Driver Authorization Form (for 2-12 passenger vans/non-CDL vehicles) and follow the RWU Motor Vehicle Policy.
Must attend and complete RWU Defensive Driving Online Training Program.
Must be reliable and independent.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and faculty and communicate with supervisor to coordinate shifts
Preferred Qualifications
Prior van driving experience and/or customer service experience and excellent interpersonal skills.
At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be accepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position
