Allweather Wood is looking for a Truck Driver (Class A) to join our Loveland, CO team. This position includes full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K matching and life insurance.
Allweather Wood is the largest producer and distributor of waterborne preservative treated wood products in the Western USA. Operating six wood preserving plants in California, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, these state-of-the-art facilities enable year-round production of a variety of preservative systems, fire retardants and wood species, including Douglas-fir, Hem fir, and Southern Yellow Pine. With support from two full-service distribution centers in California, Allweather Wood partners with home improvement retailers, lumberyards, and building material dealers to bring a full range of preservative and fire-retardant lumber and plywood products to market.
Responsibilities:Summary
Drives truck and trailer to deliver products to customer locations in a safe and timely manner. Ensures adherence to all company, DOT, state, and federal transportation safety regulations. Maintains a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency while performing all duties.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Drives flatbed truck and trailer to pick up and deliver, but not limited to; wood products on time as required.
- Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skill in maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather, mountain roads, or in tight loading/unloading areas.
- Abides by all Company, DOT, State and Federal transportation safety regulations.
- Ensures accuracy of BOL compared to cargo.
- Inspect cargo for damage prior to delivery and while being loaded/unloaded offsite. Records findings and submits documentation to supervisor.
- Ensures load is properly secured and weight is evenly distributed on trucks and trailers.
- Inspects tractor, trailer, and equipment for defects and safe operating condition before and after trips, and when stopped during the workday, Submit a driver's daily vehicle inspection report on the equipment condition at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Performs basic preventative maintenance to ensure fluid levels and tire pressures are maintained.
- Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations including driver's logs, records of fuel purchases, mileage records and other records required by law, or by Allweather Wood, LLC.
- Ensures that all shipping documentation (bills of lading, weight tickets, etc.) required to move with the shipment are available for inspection, that appropriate paperwork accompanies shipments when delivered, and that signed bills of lading for proof of delivery are turned into dispatch daily.
- Reports all accidents/incidents involving driver or company equipment immediately after incident occurs to Supervisor.
- Promptly report any delays due to breakdown, weather or traffic conditions, or other emergencies. Also report if there is more than a one-hour delay in getting unloaded or loaded, or in the event of irregularities relating to pick up or delivery of cargo.
Qualifications
- Minimum of one year Class A driving experience; this position requires a valid Class "A" Drivers License and the ability to operate both manual and automatic transmissions.
- Driver's License, current DOT physical examination card, and clean DMV record
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to navigate basic technologies like tablets, ELDs, cellular phones, and email.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to add and subtract in all units of measure including decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and remain alert while driving for an aggregate period of up to 12 hours.
- Must be able to shift a manual transmission and operate foot pedals; must be able to perform occasional squatting and crouching to handle and position freight and enter and exit the vehicle's cab 8 to 10 times a day or more. Cab floor level is generally from 36 to 66 inches above ground level with entry and exit achieved with the assistance of various configurations of steps and handholds.
- Requires occasional bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching, and balancing.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of varying size and shape a distance of at least 1 foot but usually no more than 50 feet.
- Must be able to frequently reach freight at waist level and occasionally reach for freight above shoulder height or below waist level.
- Must be able to spend at least 40% of the day standing and 20% of the day walking on surfaces such as concrete, wood, dirt, and metal, and sometimes on slippery and wet surfaces.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- This position requires wearing leather gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, and a high visibility vest.
- Position requires travel outside Colorado to neighboring states, but usually about 10% of the time.
