Supervisor: Store Manager
BASIC FUNCTION
To make pick-ups of incoming donations, to deliver store shipments, to complete store and general deliveries, and to maintain an awareness of the working conditions of the truck. To perform a variety of material handling duties and responsibilities to ensure the consistent flow of materials throughout the donated goods and retail division. Works where needed, handles baling duties, and moves materials utilizing hand and power equipment.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Drives truck for pick-ups, store shipments and general deliveries between GKA's locations and/or donation centers adhering to all traffic regulations and company policies. Drives to assigned locations and delivers shipments or to make pickup; returns with store racks, barrels, containers, trash, bale, etc.; may also deliver and/or pickup for the contract department if necessary. Completes all duties as per standards.
B. Communicates regularly with Store Manager and RDD, in absence of Store Manager. Calls in to report any delays, problems and/or concerns. Adheres to truck seal procedures.
C. Loads and unloads trucks following all safety guidelines and in a manner to avoid damage to materials and injury to personnel.
D. Completes all required forms accurately and submit in a timely fashion. Responsible for sufficient supplies to properly complete their position. Completes appropriate paperwork.
E. Takes containers of donations to Processing/Production Department. Drops off materials to be processed; returns with empty cages and cages of trash.
F. Maintains cleanliness of truck and work areas. Daily sweeps out debris from the truck; keeps cab of truck organized and clean; ensures daily maintenance checklist is completed; fills with gas; periodically cleans around dock areas; empties containers of trash. Reports any mechanical problems are reported to Store Manager immediately.
G. Performs extra pick-ups and deliveries as required.
H. Performs the following daily to include, but not be limited to: Police the property; pick-up trash around the buildings and grass areas; empty trash; sweeps dock area; weed grounds around facility; snow and ice removal; outside maintenance and lawn care.
I. Assist general dock operation by performing the following duties to include, but not be limited to: Loading and unloading trucks; keeping dock area clear of all furniture, bags, etc.
J. Assist processing/production operation by performing the following duties to include, but not be limited to: Removal of material throughout processing/production department, storage and removal of seasonal material, and inventory control.
K. May assist with operation of furniture department, where applicable, by performing the following duties to include, but not be limited to: Prepares furniture for sale; clean furniture; places on display; assists with carrying furniture for customers. Assist with putting wares carts away and maintaining the wares area.
L. Receives goods from the general public; to include, but not be limited to: Greets and assists donors by providing information; unloads donations; offers and provides receipts, determines what is acceptable according to criteria; rejects unusable items tactfully; as per training, provides tax information per guidelines; maintains excellent public relations at all times; sorts donations into proper containers and removes trash; completes all necessary paperwork such as daily donor logs, donor receipts, etc.; keeps donation site clear and clean at all times.
M. Represents Goodwill in a positive manner by providing excellent customer service at all times to external and internal customers.
N. Represents Goodwill in a positive manner by providing excellent customer service at all times to external and internal customers.
O. Performs all duties in a safe manner and ensures that store staff adhere to all safety guidelines; which includes completion of accident reports as needed.
P. Supports and promotes organizational programs and special events as required.
Q. Communicates progress, concerns, and problems to Store Manager.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate effectively and present self in a professional manner.
- Ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical computations.
- Must possess a valid Driver's license with 2 years general driving exp. and satisfactorily pass a motor a motor vehicle background check.
- Must successfully complete road test facilitated by designated Goodwill transportation personnel.
- Must be able to work with equipment such as pallet jacks, trash compactors, balers and operate equipment following all safety guidelines at all times.
- Possess forklift certification and/or willingness to become certified.
- Ability to work with power equipment such as forklift, pallet jacks, compactors, balers and operate equipment following all safety guidelines.
- Must be able to work weekends and evenings.
PHYSICIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work in all weather extremes.
- Ability to work around dust, dirt, fumes and varied noise levels.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended parts of the day.
- Ability to climb, stoop, crouch, reach, and bend.
- Ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 75 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for a prolonged period of time for 75% of the shift.
- Ability to bend, kneel and stoop to open and close doors and secure loads for 10% of the shift.
- Ability to push and pull various carts requiring an initial force of 50 pounds a distance of 150 feet for 25% of the shift.
- Ability to push and pull manual pallet jacks with gaylords or other material requiring an initial force of 60 pounds a distance of 100 feet for 25% of the shift.
- Ability to push and pull the speed lift requiring an initial force of 60 pounds a distance of 20 feet four times per shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds from ground level to waist level frequently throughout the entire shift.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds from ground level to waist level once per shift.
- Must have DOT medical card.
